GFA "blocking" Ghanaian players in India?

Viva to play without foreign stars

KOCHI, India -- While India’s football majors get ready to bring out its foreign stars on the Federation Cup stage in Ludhiana, there was big disappointment from Viva Kerala on this count.

“We will be playing the Federation Cup without our foreign stars from Ghana,” said the Viva Kerala Chairman P. Bhaskaran from Chandigarh on Monday evening.

“There are problems...their NOC (no objection certificate) from the Ghana Football Association has not come yet.”

The Kochi-based Viva — which will be making its debut in the National League this season — unveiled its new stars including striker Wisdom Abbey, a former under-17 World Cupper, and midfielder Yaw Amankwa Mireku who played for Ghana in the World Cup qualifiers, a couple of months ago in Kochi.

“But we’re sure the issue will be settled before the National League,” said Mr. Bhaskaran.
