GFA awaits FIFA over Ethiopia pull-out

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) are awaiting an official notification from world soccer governing FIFA concerning the alleged withdrawal of Ethiopia from this month's Beijing 2008 Olympic qualifier.

Reports are rife in the Ghanaian media that the Ethiopians have communicated their withdrawal for the August 22 clash due to financial constraints but the GFA have insisted they will need a confirmation from FIFA.

An official of the GFA told Arkfm. "We are waiting on FIFA's response on the matter.

"The Ethiopian FA have not communicated their withdrawal to us. We dona€t know where all these reports are coming from and are not giving them a thought and would go on with our plan for the game.

"This is a FIFA sanctioned match and they have the final say."

Nigeria and South Africa are the other teams in Group A.

Meanwhile, the coaches of the Black Meteors have informed Arkfm that the team will move to camp on Monday, August 18, for the crucial game, which is fixed for Sunyani.
