GFA Tasks Disciplinary Committee to Act On Cape Coast Violence

Mr Ben Koufie, chairman of the GFA, on Monday asked the Disciplinary Committee to sit on Thursday August 23rd on the violence that occurred at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium before the scheduled commencement of the first division match between Vipers and Iron Breakers.

A statement singed by Mr Koufie in Accra said the incident that led to the postponement of the match as well as similar nasty occurrence at Swedru after the All Blacks-Fire Breakers on Sunday should be critically examined and all culprits dealt with.

He said his outfit was dismayed at the "uncivilised and barbaric behaviour" of fans over the past two weeks and would never tolerate any acts of hooliganism that would bring the game into disrepute and earn Ghana the tag of a notorious and violent soccer country.

Mr Koufie said the country was tired of unwarranted soccer hooliganism adding that whatever happened at the Accra Sports Stadium on May 9 after the Hearts/Kotoko leagues match which resulted in 126 people losing their lives is still fresh in the minds of the Football populace.

He therefore asked the Disciplinary Committee to expedite action on all violent incidents in order to rid the leagues of any unwanted acts of indiscipline.
