GFA Presents new Uniforms to Division One League referees

The Ghana Football Association this afternoon presented 236 pieces of jerseys and shorts to Referees in Division One.

The new referees’ uniform consists of red and yellow jerseys plus black accompanying shorts. The presentation marks the first time since the Division One League began 18 years ago that the GFA has kitted referees officiating in the second tier of Ghana football.

The Chairman of the Division One League Board, Kwame Ntow Fiako, who presented the uniforms, expressed gratitude to the GFA for the gesture, expressing the hope that the new uniforms would encourage match referees to improve performances on the pitch.

Retired FIFA Referee Alex Quartey, who received the uniforms on behalf of the referee, thanked the GFA for the gesture, adding that he hopes that in the near future, hoses and boots would also be provided for the referees.

The new uniforms are expected to be worn by Division One Referees in the second round of the ongoing Division One League which will kick off on 14th April 2012
