GFA Invites More Applications For Black Stars Post

After its Tuesday deliberation on the technical direction of the senior national team, the Black Stars, the management board of the Ghana Football Association has resolved to open application for the coaching job until the 15th of January 2003.

The move according to FA sources is to make the application for the job now official even though eight coaches have tendered in their applications for caretaker coach, E.K Afranie’s job.

The meeting was also used to consider the eight applications received so far for the Black Stars coaching post.

Six expatriates and two Ghanaian have so far expressed interest in the job deserted by Yugoslav, Milan Zivadinovic after three months at post.

The FA source further hinted that, this would be the opportunity for the caretaker coach, E.K Afranie to also put in an application before the 15th January deadline.

Among the coaches vying for the Black Stars post include, Mohammed Polo, Abdul Razak, both local coaches and ex-national stars, former Black Stars German coach, Burkhard Ziese; Argentine Carlos Cavagnaro; Dutchman Willem Leushuis and Portuguese, Manuel Concalves who handled Angola’s national team at the 1998 African Nations Cup.

The source said by the first week of February, Ghana would have a substantive coach for the Black Stars.
