GFA Denies Sacking Coach Afranie

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) chairman, Ben Koufie has explained that a decision has not yet been taken on whether or not Coach E.K Afranie should handle the national under-20 team, the Black Satellites.

The FA has however appointed Malik Jabir and Isaac Paha as technical directors of the Black Satellites in new appointments announced on Monday.

Mr Koufie told JOY FM that it is unfortunate that the appointment of the new technical staff has created the impression that Coach Afranie has been sacked.

Reacting to questions raised about the appointment of spiritual leaders for the national teams instead of psychologists, Mr Koufie said a psychologist will soon be attached to the team.

Reverend Kofi Pare has been appointed to lead Christian prayers while Alhaji Dodoo Ankra is to take charge of Muslim prayers in the camp of all the national football teams.

He explained the rationale of the appointment of the spiritual heads, stating that both Christian and Moslem in the national teams like praying and the leaders would encourage them to believe in prayer instead of superstition and other things.
