GFA Congress today

All is set for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) ermegency congress at the National Sports Council (NSC) conference hall this morning.

The emergency congress has been necessitated by a long-standing dispute between the GFA and the management of Mighty Jets, a division one football outfit over the retention or otherwise of the club in the 2002 division one league.

The emergency congress is expected to discuss the way forward in the protracted dispute, and find modalities that should define the league programme in view of the unduly delayed start and the little time at the FA?s disposal.

The members of the congress will find answers to the numerous questions on the format the league should take, and what should happen to the court case.

The congress comprises the executive council and management board of the GFA, the premier and division one clubs, and representatives of the reg ional FA?s. The meeting starts at 10 a.m.

The GFA is currently locked up in a legal battle over whether to retain Mighty Jets or not, leading to a hold-up of the 2002 division one league for this while. A high court has ruled in Mighty Jets favour compelling the GFA to file for an appeal, which remains unsettled till today.
