GFA Chief to be Elected Today

THE EXECUTIVE committee is to elect a new president today, June 27 with former internationals Abedi Ayew Pele and Ben Kwofie the main candidates.

Pele is a former Ghanaian international and African Player of the Year, whilst Kwofie is a member of FIFA’s Technical Study Committee and a former coach of the Zimbabwe national team.

Another election is to be held for the Professional Football League Board’s chairman seat, which Sylvester Mensah headed and is seeking to do so for another term.

The council has the mandate to accept the two nominees for the GFA chairmanship, or reject them as is being speculated in some quarters as some members are said to be not interested in the nominations.

The meeting will also discuss other issues, including the Black Stars’ African Nations Cup final to be hosted by Mali next year.
