GFA Begs Appeals Committee To Rescind Decision

The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association on Tuesday appealed to three permanent members of the FA's Appeals Committee who have resigned their positions to rescind their decision in the interest of Ghana Football.

A statement signed by Mr Kofi Nsiah, the general secretary, expressed surprise at the resignation of Mr Justice I.R. Aboagye who was the chairman of the committee, his assistant Mr Mr L.S.N. Akuetteh and Mr I.B. Ashun, a member.

" It is unfortunate that the members attributed their resignation to the statement by the Minister of State, Honourable Rashid Bawa," said the statement which was copied to the GNA Sports.

The minister was reported to have criticised the Committee in the case of Great Olympics and RTU versus Goldfields Football Club.

The Executive Council reiterated that both the Disciplinary and Appeals Committees based their rulings of the cases on the rules and regulations of the FA as enacted by the clubs and approved by congress.

The statement stressed that until such time that these Regulations are amended or repealed at Congress, the two committees would be compelled to interpret them as such.
