Fulham angry with Ghana call-up for Pantsil

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson hopes the Ghanaian national team sees the light in regards to their call-up for defender John Pantsil.

The right-back is wanted by the Black Stars to join them a fortnight before the African Cup of Nations kicks off on January 10 meaning he would have to leave the day before the Cottagers take on Chelsea on December 28.

Hodgson believes Ghana will allow Pantsil to come a day later but just hopes the same rules apply to Chelsea duo Michael Essien (Ghan) and Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast).

"It is probably an oversight on their part, and I do not expect for one minute Ghana to insist Pantsil leaves the day before we play Chelsea, or that Essien leaves Chelsea,” Hodgson said.

"I think it was a bit disrespectful of the African Nations teams to write to English clubs asking for players to be released on December 27 when they know we have matches on the 28th. Especially as they have a two-and-a-half week preparation period.

"I do expect him to play on the 28th and he will unless Fifa intervene. But we will then have to insist that Drogba goes as well!"
