Fulham To Host Ghana and Mexico

Football authorities here in England have given the green light to Craven Cottage as venue for the Ghana versus Mexico friedly international on March 26.

Speaking exclusively to myghanafootball.com, the CEO of DVISION Network Dennis Tawaih explained that there were other venues in contention but a few issues that had to be clarified by both teams and the organisers before the English Football Association could approve on a ground that would provide the best options for the teams.

''We had to make sure that all parties were fully satisfied with conditions and more importantly the venue, before we go full swing with the promotional aspect of the match''

The encounter would be the first time the African Nation's Cup bronze medalist will play since the end of the tournament in Ghana. The match would also test Africa's top FIFA-placed team as to the value of their ranking against seasoned campaigners Mexico.

The Black Stars of Ghana may have been disapointed at not lifting their fifth African title but as the number 14 best team in the FIFA /Coca-Cola rankings, the match should provide enough motivation for victory to safeguard their position.

The March 26 friendly game against Mexico will be only the second time both teams would be clashing at the senior team level.Thefirst encounter coincidentally was also on played in March 2006, which the Mexicans won 1-0.

Ghana will use the warm up game as a preparatory match to kick off their World Cup qualifying campaign in June.

Meanwhile the Mexican Football Federation has confirmed that Carlos Vela will feature against Ghana in London. The talented striker who can also play as a winger is currently on loan at Osasuna in Spain from English giants Arsenal.
