Frimpong Predicts Eagles Fall

Former Enyimba of Aba top striker, Joetex Frimpong has declared that Nigeria’s U-23 national team should forget about the sole ticket in Africa qualifying Group A for the 2008 Olympic Games, while stressing that the Black Meteors is the team to beat.

In an exclusive chat from his base in Switzerland, Frimpong maintained that Ghanaian football is now a force to reckon with in Africa.

“Nigerians should forget about the Olympic ticket because their time has passed.

“It’s our time to dominate African football and we are going all out to pick the sole ticket in that group,” says the 24-year-old player who was on target when Ghana thrashed Nigeria 4-1 in London at senior level.

Frimpong added that Ghana will focus on getting valuable points against South Africa and Ethiopia to boost their chances against the Samson Siasia led Dream Team.

“Nigeria is not our focus but we’re determined in getting points from South Africa and Ethiopia to boost our chances when we play Nigeria home and away.

“Also, we will be starting the qualifiers with Nigeria and that’s a good advantage for us,” he said.
