Football for Hope Centre to be built for Oguaa

Cape Coast, Nov. 12, GNA - The Country Director of 'Football for Hope', a non-governmental organization (NGO) which aims at achieving positive social change through the game of football has embarked on the construction of twenty Centres for public health, education and football across Africa. Mr Kojo Morgan who announced this at Cape Coast said the Municipality which would benefit from one of such centres would help address social local challenges that young people face in disadvantaged areas by helping to improve upon education and public health services in those areas. In a brief interaction with the press at Cape Coast, Mr Morgan said the centre which would be named the "Oguaa Football for Hope Centre", would promote social development within the communities and strengthen local organizations with vital infrastructure.

Mr Morgan said the centre would among others increase awareness of HIV/AIDS, literacy, gender equality and integrate the youth with intellectual disabilities.

The Country Director said together with FIFA and Streetfootball World they would collaborate to develop unifying programme elements for the centre to be adapted and implemented according to the local needs.

He said he was optimistic that the centre would become a hub for cooperation and exchange of best practices among local organizations. Mr Morgan stressed that the Football for Hope Centre model is based on partnership and cooperation between various stakeholders and on the principle of "matching resources" and "complementary expertise". He said support would be sought locally from the Metropolis and Regional government authorities, FIFA Member Associations and the various communities to ensure long-term sustainable development.

Mr Morgan said 'Football for Hope Centres' are long term projects for everyone and was of the hope that the centres would be replicated in other parts of the country. 12 Nov. 10
