Football enthusiasts urged to invest in the sport

Mampong Akuapem (E/R), Feb. 16, GNA - The Founder of Mighty Rangers F/C, a Second Division football team at Mampong Akuapem in the Eastern Region, Mr Seth Opuni, has called on football lovers to invest some of their resources in the development of local teams to enhance the capacity of players.

Mr Opuni noted that when the people and society team up and assist the clubs in their areas it would not only tap the talents of the pool of youngsters but also give them employment and gear them from getting involved in anti-social activities.

The Founder of the Club made the call at an executive meeting on Monday to deliberate on management and the challenges facing the Club and to look at measures as to how to surmount them and strategize towards their qualification to the First Division.

Mr Opuni said he decided to establish the Club in 2006 when the Black Stars participated at the World Cup and thought it wise to help train more youngsters to develop their football talents.

He advised the managers of the team to handle the players in such a way that they would always feel happy and prepared to win their matches. Mr Opuni congratulated Charles Goku, the team manager for leading the Club to beat Larteh United F/C 2-1 in their Eastern Regional Second Division League match played at Mampong Akuapem on Sunday and also drew 1-1 with Global Academy of Oyarefah which was played at the Oyarefah Public Park last two weeks. 16 Feb. 10
