Food vendors at Aflao prepare for Ghana 2008

Aflao, Jan. 9, GNA - The food vending sector in Aflao is expected to have a boom with an expected 200,000 football fans from Togo, Benin, Nigeria and Cameroon crossing over the border to Ghana for Ghana 2008 football tournament.

The Ghana Tourist Board and the Cook Art Ghana have held a training workshop for over 100 food vendors, caterers and allied business operators in Aflao to polish them to deliver quality service. The participants were schooled in hygiene, food production, facility management and customer care to ensure food safety and make lasting and positive impressions on the visitors.

Miss Joyce Gawu, a Senior Resource Officer with the GTB at Ho, said the Board takes particular interest in the food sector of tourism because of its ability to make or unmake efforts to improve the sector. She told the participants that their role was crucial to the successful hosting of the tournament and that the visitors would expect nothing short of the best from them.

"Let our visitors be satisfied with our services and return later after the tournament to your advantage and the country's tourism industry", she said.
