Fatawu unable to make Chippa United debut

Ghana goalkeeper Fatawu Dauda was unable to make his Chippa United debut in their opening Premier League win over Platinum Stars on Saturday over the non-issuance of his work permit.

The 29-year-old was not included in the Chippa’s matchday squad despite being called to camp.

Dauda was hoping to have received his work permit on Friday to make him eligible to make his debut but his request didn’t go through.

He therefore sat out the 2-0 win to get Chippa United’s campaign in the South African ti flight to a flyer.

First half goals by Andile Mbenyane and David Zulu were enough to hand Kosta Papic’s side the opening win at their new Nelson Mandela Bay home ground.

Dauda who arrived from Orlando Pirates thus summer could make his debut for the Chili Boys in their next game against SuperSport United on Tuesday once he secures his work permit.
