Fatau backs Louis for Ashgold captaincy

Ghanaian International and former Ashanti Gold captain Fatau Dauda has backed veteran Louis Agyemang to succeed in his new role as the substantive captain of the Obuasi-based club.

The top hierarchy of the miners decided to settle on the former Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko forward after Dauda left for Orlando Pirates before the commencement of the Ghanaian Premier League.

Speaking to footy-ghana.com, Dauda noted that it was the right decision by the Ashanti Gold hierarchy to appoint Louis Agyemang as club captain, adding that the experienced striker will unite the dressing room in the club’s bid to win the Premier League.

“It is a good idea for them to appoint Louis as the captain of the team. They needed somebody with experience and the pedigree, and I think Louis fits that. I’m so happy for him because I know he is a tough guy who will be able to bring unity in the dressing room and the camp to help them win the Glo Premier League. It has been a long time they did that and I know with the help of all they will be able to do that.”

Louis Agyemang, who has also captained Medeama SC in the past, will lead out his team for the first time in this season when Ashanti Gold faces Heart of Lions in Kpando Park this weekend.
