Fans of Medeama Sporting Club were on Sunday involved in an accident at Ahinkofi, near Kojokrom in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region, when they were returning from the Essipong Sports Stadium.

The jubilant fans numbering about five were heading towards Takoradi in a taxi around 1830 hours from the stadium after their club, Medeama, recorded emphatic victory over their Libyan counterpart, AI Ittihad, in a CAF Confederation Cup competition.

The fans who were hoisting Medeama’s flags on top of the taxi, rammed into a tree along Takoradi/Cape Coast highway and knocked down two pedestrians in the process.

The injured had since been rushed to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital for medical treatment.

Medeama Sporting Club sealed qualification to the next stage of CAF Confederation Cup competition by defeating Libyan side, AI Ittihad 2-0 at the Essipong Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Striker Abass Mohammed scored brace for the Tarkwa-based club to seal qualification, thus making them the only surviving Ghanaian club in this year’s African club cup competition.
