Fankobaah protest over verdict

Agona Swedru, Jan 29, GNA - The Management of Agona Fankobaah Football Club has called on the Disciplinary Committee of the Central Regional Sports Council to declare the results of a protest lodged against Swedru All Blacks for fielding an unqualified player. Nana Yaw Fayah, Chairman of the club who announced this at a news conference at Agona Swedru to throw more light on the protest said that the disciplinary committee sat on the case on January 8, 2004 but has still not come out with the results.

He said on December 28, 2003, Swedru Alll Blacks fielded one Alex Boampong wearing jersey number 10 who could not produce his card (A) during an inspection of the two teams when they played against Fankobaah in the second Division League Match.

He said that the management will therefore want to know the time for the registration of a player and the period that a player does not qualify to play in a league match.

Nana Fayah noted that during the pre-match inspection by the match officials Alex Boampong could not produce his registration card but the officials allowed him to play.

He said that after Fankobaah lodged a protest against the player, All Blacks produced a new card (A) to the members of the disciplinary committee at its sitting in Cape Coast.

According to him the rules and regulations of the FA indicate that no player can produce a new registration card while the league has only four matches to end.

The Chairman of the club said that Fankobaah wanted to know the verdict because supporters and management of All Blacks were jubilating that they have won the protest and that they had been awarded three points and two goals by the regional disciplinary committee.
