Faisal lose to Liberty Professionals at home

Kumasi, March 20, GNA - Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals descended on the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi to beat Kumasi King Faisal 1-0 in their Glo Premier League played on Sunday.

The only goal of the match, which was played in an almost empty stadium, was scored by substitute Kouakou Kevin in the 53rd minute when he knocked the ball into a yawning net after goalkeeper Ibrahim Iddrisu of Faisal had failed to make a first time save from a goal mouth melee.

Faisal who kicked off should have got the opener in the fourth minute but the chance was wasted when Muhammed Farouk's goal bound header was headed strongly back into play by Nelson Alfred. The Alhaji Gruzah lads who were on an early rampage wasted another opportunity four minutes later when Asumadzi Baffoe's shot was saved by goalkeeper Daniel Adjei.

Liberty, during the half came under severe pressure, but managed to turn the table against their opponents as they also missed an opportunity in the 18th minute as Emmanuel Osei fumbled with only keeper Iddrisu to beat.

Faisal who played it hard, had Abdul Wahab on target in the 23rd minute but his shot was saved by keeper Adjei with Liberty's James Abban also messing up in the 29th minute.

The game became a ding-dong affair until the end of the first half. On resumption of the second half, it was Liberty who recovered early from their low performance in the first half as they improved on their game and it was no wonder they scored in the 53rd minute through Kevin.

Liberty nearly made it two but Isaac Donkor and Kelvin's shots were saved by keeper Iddrisu in the 81st and 82nd minutes respectively.

With their pride at stake, Faisal pushed more men upfront in an effort to redeem the goal deficit but the impregnable defence of Liberty warded off all their attempts.
