FIFA financial assistance to GFA hits $1.25M

Figures from world football governing body FIFA has revealed that it has paid the Ghana Football Association 1,250,000 dollars since the start of last year through it's Financial Assistance Program.

The figures published on FIFA's website provides an insight into the financial assistance it has offered the Ghana football association in recent years and perharps the strongest rebuttal to it's claims that is often cash strapped for specific areas of football development.

A breakdown of the assistance for 2015 says it gave the GFA 750,000 dollars for various football development schemes this year. Youth football was the biggest beneficiary with 140,000 dollars dedicated to it. Women's football got 112,500 dollars . A further 100,000 dollars was set aside for refereeing while 120,000 dollars went into planning and administration as indicated by FIFA's audited accounts.

FIFA gave the Ghana Football Association another 500000 dollars in 2014 but it's audited accounts said only 3640 dollars was reserved for youth football while 37,500 dollars went into women's football. The accounts listed 208860 dollars for others and a further 250,000 dollars for bonuses without stating what they specifically went into.

There are no public records available at the moment on whether indeed the GFA received the monies and crucially whether they were used for the purposes that the FIFA financial assistance program stipulates
