FIFA Rankings: Ghana down 18 places

Accra, July 18, GNA - Ghana's Black Stars has slipped 18 places on the Coca Cola FIFA world rankings released on Wednesday, July 17. The Stars who moved within the first 20 last month is now ranked 37. This is the Stars' lowest rankings since they made a debut World Cup appearance in Germany last summer.

Information gathered by the GNA Sports from the FIFA website indicated the latest rankings.

The fall of the Stars might be attributed to inactivity as the national "Team A" has failed to play any international game since May. According to FIFA's regulations, country's who do not participate in any of the competitive tournaments or qualifying series at the senior level drop valuable points.

Ghana, by virtue of being host of the 26th African Cup of Nations in 2008 is not taking part in the continent's qualifying campaign. The Stars ranked fourth in June also dropped a step down on the continental ladder.
