FA Withholds Names Of Referees for Sunday’s Game

With the Countdown for Sunday’s big game between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, the Management Board of the Ghana Football Association, is holding-on to the list of the referees who have been selected to handle the match.

The selection process for match officiating was conducted last Tuesday. A FIFA licensed referee is however believed to have been picked to handle the match.

The decision comes after the Referee’s Association of Ghana kicked against the FA’s decision to use the balloting process to pick a referee for the match.

An FA source, has explained that the decision not to make the list of appointed referees public, is for security reasons.

Among the stated reasons are the likely influence of the match officials by stakeholders and the need to allow the referees have a free mindset to officiate the game on Sunday.

The source says the decision would give the referees the much-needed focus to handle the game effectively.
