FA Veep slams Sports Cul

Ghana FA vice-president George Afriyie Ghana FA vice-president George Afriyie

The vice President of the Ghana Football Association, George Afriyie, claims sports management firm, Sports Cul Ghana Limited, got their approach wrong, following their announcement of the $44m package for the development of Ghana sports.

According to Afriyie, Sports Cul were not duly diligent in the announcement of this deal and expressed alarm as they didn’t go through the right processes.

He said: “I was alarmed when I heard the announcement of the 44m USD deal. First of, I am an interested party in all the angles of football in the country, so personally, I think the approach is wrong,” he told Kessben FM.

He added: “The Premier League and all the club teams are products of some investors, so they should have approached all these interested parties so as to reach an amicable product.

“For instance, if you want to give Premier League players a certain amount of money, you must have informed the owners of the club, so that a decision will be reached, so basically, they got the approach wrong.”

Meanwhile, Sports Cul, at the event last Tuesday, reiterated the need to involve all stakeholders in the development of the game, as numerous meetings are still ongoing
before the disbursement of funds begins in February 2017.
