European clubs seek Starlets defender

Three European clubs are expected to move for Ghana under-17 defender Meisuna Alhassan when the junior World Cup ends in South Korea.

The 17-year-old, who plays for local club Wise Fighters, has played three matches so far at the ongiong WOrld Cup and was pivotal when Ghana fedeated Brazil 1-0.

His performance has impressed scouts of Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg who are keen to sign him immediately.

Alhassan’s good showing at the tournament has also caught the eyes of scouts representing French club Metz and Turkish giants Besiktas.

But Wise Fighters say they will only discuss a foreign move for the player after the tournament.

“We have received serious enquiries from Red Bull Salsburg, Metz and Besiktas for Meisuna,” Jamil Marabi, CEO of Wise Fighters said.

“We don’t want these offers to distract his attention from his goal of helping the Starlets to win the tournament.

“As soon as the tournament is over we will invite them for talks.”

Other players of the Black Starlets have also attracted interest from several clubs across Europe.

But local Premier League clubs are also considering moves for players of the national under-17 team.

Hearts of Oak and Ashgold have also expressed interest in signing the Wise Fighters defender to bolster their squads for next season.
