Essien confident Real Madrid will win CL

Ghana midfielder, Michael Essien says Real Madrid’s exceptional form makes them optimistic of their Uefa champions league chances.

The 30-year-old who is on loan from Chelsea is of the view that the quality of the Madrid team will be key to their dreams of landing a 10th champions league title.

"We’re possibly in excellent form now. We’ve made it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League and it’s obvious to me that we have the players to win the title, so we have to keep working and we'll see what happens”, the former Lyon player told the club’s official website.

The versatile player also had words of praise for coach Mourinho: "He’s a coach, but he’s also a teacher and a father. He speaks to everyone man to man and it’s something you notice because not a lot of coaches do that. They usually come out, set the tactics…but he does everything”.

Essien will be the first Ghanaian player to win the Champions league twice if Real Madrid are able to win it after clinching the title with Chelsea last season.
