Shanghai SIPG manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has refused to shed light on the current situation of Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan, who was reported to be on his way out of the club, following the arrival of Brazilian Hulk from Zenit St Petersburg for an Asian record transfer fee of €55.8 million.

Due to the Chinese Super League's foreign player limits of five, one of Shanghai's current overseas imports must leave to make way for Hulk, with Gyan, who is on a €271,000 weekly wage, the most likely to depart, according to reports.

Shanghai ended their five-game winless streak in the topflight last weekend, with a 2-0 victory over Hebei China Fortune thanks to Elkeson and Wu Lei. Both Gyan and Hulk were missing in action with the latter left behind in Shanghai to regain match fitness, after completing his mega move.

"Our performance [against Hebei China Fortune] was more like that of a strong team. I hope this can be the turning point in our season," Eriksson was quoted as saying by Yahoo Sports.

When asked about Gyan's fate, Eriksson said: "Sorry [I can't talk about Gyan], I am not clear at the moment on what is going to happen with Gyan."

Gyan boasts of 95 caps for Ghana and 48 goals.
