Emmanuel Banahene on target in Ismaily home defeat

Egypt-based Ghanaian striker Emmanuel Banahene scored a fine goal in his side’s 1-2 home defeat to Al Ahly.

The Ismaily forward pulled one back for his mid-table side in the penultimate matches of the Egyptian Premier League which handed their guest the championship trophy.

Ramadan Shobi and Wahid Suleiman handed Alhy a 0-2 lead in the opening 12 minutes before the 23-year-old Ghanaian import halfed the deficit for the Daraweesh.

Compatriot and Ahly hit man John Antwi missed a goal-bound opportunity to restore the 2 goal lead for the champions with only the goal at his mercy moments to recess.

Emmanuel led the goal scoring chart in the opening half of the campaign but took his leg off the pedal in the home streak end of the season.

Club mate and former Hearts of Oak attacking prodigy, Tawfique Jibrin, remains an obvious absentee due to his battle with injuries.

The 1-2 win for Ahly coupled with Zamalek’s dull drawn game with Misry Al Makasa handed Martin Job’s men their 9th league title in the past 10 years.
