Emmanuel Ampeah, considering a comeback

Former Black Stars and Asante Kotoko's central defender Emmanuel Ampeah is seriously considering a comeback to the round leather game.

This time round, not as a trainee but as a trainer he told Happy FM's morning show presenter Charles Osei Asibey on "Where are they"

"I have been on the quiet minding my own business for far too long, indeed, I am responsible for my "inactivity", I should have acted like how Frimpong Manso did by involving himself in football issues after retiring, but I have now decided to follow the steps of Manso," was Ampeah's response to why he has been in hibernation.

Nicknamed Chairman, the well-built libero indicated that total dedication to the game was their primary focus during his era, hence the high standard in those years.

According to Chairman, soccer fans who watch players in his era have stopped going to the stadia taking into account the sharp contrast in the standard of play.

His dedication on and off the field won him several awards; six of which was the Most Valuable Player Award instituted by the then Kotoko coach Ibrahim Sunday including SWAG 'Dedication and valour' Award. Ampeah played alongside greats like Abedi Ayew Pele, George Alhassan, Frimpong Manso, Emmanuel Armah 'Senegal', Polo, Sam Johnson among others.

He is a product of King Faisal Alhaji Gruzah$B!G(Bs colts side Ashanti Stars. He later joined Corners Stones, Hasaacas, returned to Corners where he together with Manso, goalkeeper Sampson Appiah won the WAFU Cup in the 80s.

Chairman then left the country to seek greener pastures in Cote d$B!G(BIvoire with Asec Mimosas for a stint and later joined Kotoko, Qatar, retuned to Kotoko and later flew out again to Malaysia.

He revealed that after his sojourn on foreign land, he decided to give back to the $B!F(Bhands that fed him$B!G(B by joining Faisal but thought otherwise. Asked why hew was nicknamed Chairman, he jokingly pleaded with Osei Asibey to shelve the matter not even off air, but promised to do that on one-on-one with Charles.
