Ghana are in the "group of death" for next year's African Cup of Nations in Egypt after the draw conducted in Cairo on Thursday night.

Ghana were drawn in Group D to play former champions Nigeria, Korea-Japan 2002 world cup sensation Senegal and Zimbabwe when the biennial tournament gets under way on January 20.

Senegal beat Nigeria after extra-time in a bruising semi-final encounter at the 2002 finals, days after Nigeria had ousted Ghana in the last eight.

"We have to prove ourselves again and this is going to be the best test possible."

Nigeria have failed to qualify for next year's World Cup finals in Germany.

Ghana and Senegal played a goaless draw in England in August in an international friendly
