Eddy Copson dropped from Hearts Squad

Edmund Copson, Accra Hearts of Oak combative midfielder, has been dropped from the 18-man squad expected to make the trip to Togo for the second leg of the preliminaries of this year's CAF Champions League against A S Douane.

According to coach Herbert Addo, the team would be leaving Accra by road to Togo on Friday evening without the combative midfielder who, he said, is unfit for the match.

Information gathered by the GNA Sports, has revealed that the player has continuously absented himself from training for the past weeks and this was confirmed by the coach.

"He has been very irregular at training since pre-season cum preparation for the second leg commenced and obviously does not merit a call up," he said.

The coach is however of the view that the players absence would not affect the team since there are equally good midfielders to fill his place. Copson, was suffering from a groin injury during the first leg but was put on the bench to make up the number following a massive depletion of the 27-man squad registered by the club for Africa.

Among the players making the trip are, Sammy Adjei, James Nanor, Mohamed Saani, Ibrahim Kluvi, Kwame Antwi, Dan Oppong, Kwabena Boafo, Dan Quaye, Richard Nii Noi, Philip Kutsu, Emmanuel Osei, Lawrence Adjah Tetteh, Joe Ansah and Charles Allotey.

The rest are Wisdom Abbey, Bernard Don Bortey, Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour and Awudu Adama.

The team is expected back on Monday, April 27.
