Eddie Ansah Bows Out

Burkhard Ziese's number two goalkeeper, the aged Edward Ansah failed to honour his admirer's invitation to join the Black Stars for their preparation to Kigali on Sunday. Burkhard Ziese had no reasons for Edward Ansah's sudden turn around.

The goalkeeper according to Soccer Express sources is said to have decided to stay off the Black Stars in the heat of public debate over his inclusion into the Black Stars.

Ansah who features for Indian side, Churchill Brothers is said to have heeded advice from some quarters to bow out as his inclusion continues to spark public outcry.

Ansah's decision now leaves Burkhard Ziese with the onus to pick his first choice of the three namely George Owoo, Abubakari Kankani and Isaac Amoako for the Kigali decider.

The 40-year-old goalkeeper who recently made a return to the Black Stars courtesy Burkhard Ziese after a nine-year absence has seen his presence in the Stars post cause serious public outcry.

Ansah started his comeback during Ghana's participation in the LG Cup hosted by Nigeria. The Stars lost 1-3 to the Super Eagles of Nigeria. Ansah who believes performance has got nothing to do with age played his first competitive game for Ghana after the 1994 Nation's Cup, which Ghana lost 2-1 to Ivory Coast in Tunisia.

For now, it appears Edward Ansah has ended his dream of a successful comeback to the Black Stars though Burkhard Ziese who brought him back as a goalkeeper's trainer would love to have him in his team.

Public outcry seems to have forced the onetime nations best to stay off the team prematurely against his wishes and that of coach Burkhard Ziese.
