Ebankese FC rout Tullow Oil 6-1 in friendly match

Accra, Oct. 17, GNA - Ebankese FC of HFC Bank displayed a high level of technical and tactical abilities to beat Tullow Oil 6-1 in a friendly football match on Saturday at the Ajax Park, Legon, Accra.

The result served a perfect revenge for Ebankese FC, who lost 1-2 to the oil giants in the reverse fixture held barely two months ago at the Nicholson Stadium, Burma Camp.

The HFC lads who ended the game with a man-less after captain Bennett Abban was given the marching off orders following a dangerous tackle on an opponent just before half time, were the dominant force throughout the game.

Midfield duo, Ernest Mensah and Henry Akwaku shot Ebankese FC into a two-goal lead before the end of the first half.

Tullow Oil responded positively in the second half and succeeded in reducing the deficit through Messi four minutes into the half, but it turned out to be a nine-day wonder for them.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, the Ebankese lads had the upper hand in all the challenges and it was only a matter of time before they would authenticate their lead.

Akwaku made it 3-1 on 65 minutes when he fired into the yawning net after rounding the opponent's goalie and for Mensah to conclude his brace with a deceptive long range shot that left the Tullow Oil goalie with no option four minutes later.

Ebakese's playmaker, Prince Koolan scored the fifth goal on 84 minutes before substitute Daniel Yeboah completed the rout two minutes from time to add to the woes of the Tullow Oil team.

The match was to encourage friendship and unity amongst staff of the two companies.

It also served as a platform to develop business relationship between the two institutions.
