Dwarfs thrash Bafana

Cape Coast, Nov.10, GNA- Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs qualified for the middle league when they whipped Takoradi Bafana 4-0 in their first division league match played at the Cape Coast sports stadium on Sunday. Dwarfs, who threw away a number of scoring chances, led 1-0 at half time from a spot kick taken by right half back, Kwesi Mbir. Dwarfs resumed strongly but the iron- clad defence of Bafana kept them at bay.

Bafana, had their turn in the 70th minute and they put pressure on Dwarfs making several attempts to equalise but their tendency to walk the ball into the net, denied them the goals. In 75th minute, both sides made some changes with Dwarfs benefiting by netting the second goal through outside left Frank Mensah, with a terrific shot in the 80th minute.

Dwarfs, continued to pile pressure on Bafana and following a series of raids in their opponents' vital area, outside left, Nana Kwei, increased the tally to 3-0 in the 83rd minute. Bafana's hopes of drawing level with Dwarfs were shattered, when Kwesi Mbir, raised the tally to 4-0 in the 88th minute with another spot

Kick, when Class one referee, Ibrahim Sumaila who handled the match, awarded a penalty when a hard pressed Bafana defender handled the ball in the vital area in the 87th minute.
