Dwarfs beat Sekondi Westlandes

Cape Coast, June 8, GNA - A 35th minute penalty scored by Mustapha Douglas enabled Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs to beat Sekondi Westlandes 1-0 in their National Division One League match played at Robert Mensah Stadium, Cape Coast on Sunday.

From the blast of the whistle, Westlandes parading players like Enoch Annan, Daniel Safo, Charles Arthur and Richard Quainoo matched Dwarfs boot to boot until the 35th minute when Mustapha scored the winning goal.

The second half saw Westlandes on the war path again with their forwards fighting tooth and nail to get the equalizer but the able defence of Dwarfs foiled their attempts. Results of other league matches were Dunkwa-on-Offin Starke pipped Tarkwa Real United (1-0).

Elmina Coconut Grove were spanked 1-3 by Sekondi Metro Stars with Windy Professionals drawing 1-1 with Feyenoored. In another development, Winneba Soccer Intellectuals gained a narrow 1-0 win over Akotsi Jenaak Academy in their Central Region Division Two League match played at Winneba on Saturday. The winning goal came in the dying minutes of the game when midfielder Magnus Duncan in a solo effort scored for his side. Results of other league matches were Cape Coast Liberty Rainbow drew 1-1 with Adisadel Astronomers and Dunkwa United beat Adansi Praso WAECO 3-2.
