Die for Ghana - Minister tells Maidens

Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has urged the Black Maidens to go all out and secure victory in this weekend’s World Cup qualifier against Congo.

The team kick starts another World Cup journey on Sunday seeking to qualify as one of Africa’s representatives.

The Maidens made history last year when they became the first African under 17 female team to win Bronze at the World stage. Mr. Afriyie is expecting nothing short of a comprehensive victory from the team.

“I know that you have worked very hard and you have put in a lot of effort, but you need to put in extra effort these last days. Your opponents are also putting in a lot of efforts, but the one who will overcome is the one who has put in extra effort. He told XYZ Sports in an interview.

“I can see a lot of hope in you, you must continue to work very hard and I believe that one day you shall all go to the World Cup”.

“I want you to know that whatever you are doing, you are doing for mother Ghana, but you are also doing it for yourself” he added.
