Desailly tours Nigeria with Ghana U—20

French international Marcel Desailly has proposed bringing the Ghanaian U-20 team to Nigeria on an international playing tour.

Nigeria Football Association (NFA) Secretary General Tijani Yusuf confirmed yesterday Desailly’s interest.

According to Yusuf, the French defender with Ghanaian roots wants the Ghanaian U-20 side to visit Nigeria at a later date.

The friendly matches in his views will be of benefit to the Golden Eaglets billed to campaign at the U-17 World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago in September.

"Desailly wants to bring the Ghanaian U-20 to Nigeria. We have reviewed that proposal and accord it serious consideration because it will help the Eaglets World Cup build up," he said.

It was, however, gathered that the Ghanaians requested NFA to pay their transport fares from Ghana and appearance fees.

The two friendly matches are to be played in northern and southern venues.

In a related development, the Eaglets are to play their Malian counterparts over two friendly matches in Bamako. The matches will hold in July.
