Deputy Minister to launch 38th SWAG Awards

Joseph Yamin, the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, tomorrow performs the launch of the 38th edition of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards Night.

The launch, which will be held at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium, will commence preparations for the event which will confer honours on sportsmen and women who distinguished themselves in 2012 as well as other individuals and institutions for their contribution to the development of sports in Ghana.

A statement from the SWAG Secretariat said the event would also be used to formally announce new partnership with communication giants MTN Ghana, as well as other sponsors.

Other personalities expected to attend the event are Alice Attipoe, acting Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), patrons, and members of the association and representatives of sponsors.

The 38th edition of the SWAG Awards Night has been fixed for Saturday, June 29, 2013, at the Banquet Hall, State House in Accra.

About 30 sportsmen and sportswomen, as well as institutions, will be presented with trophies, medals, certificates and attractive packages from sponsors of the event.
