Kotoko Deputy Operations Manager Ali Maradona has denied talks making rounds they are set to appoint a Danish manager to head the club's technical coaching arm.

Tommy Mueller has been heavily rumoured in local media to have been given the job and after he was seen watching the Reds play AshGold on Sunday, the news was given credence.

“We have not contacted anybody or promised anybody the Kotoko job. David Duncan is still the head coach and we still have confidence in him. If we should bring in new hands, [the Asantehene] must speak first. And definitely Nana will speak soon,” he told Asempa Sports on Tuesday.

The 22-time league champions have endured a difficult this season, which saw them finish trophyless for the first time since 2011.

The Danish coach is said to be considering the job with the help of Dr. Kwaku Frimpong, a benefactor of the club who is reportedly angling to be the new CEO as well.

The club’s spokesperson, Kwaku Ahenkorah, has also denied the links.

“Those reports are far from the truth. We didn’t bring him and he’s also not here because of Kotoko. As far as we know, Dr. Kwaku Frimpong of Champion Divine Clinic brought him. They are business partners. Therefore reports about the coach coming to Kotoko should be ignored,” he said.

Kotoko finished the season in sixth place.
