Council One of Hasaacas FC supports move to replace management

Takoradi, April 11, GNA - Council One Supporters Union of Sekondi Hasaacas Football Club have said they endorse the decision of the Patrons of the Club to form an Interim Management Committee to take over the administration of the Club.

They said the idea mooted by the Concerned Supporters group to replace the current Management Committee of the Club to pave the way for a national congress of the Club was in the right direction. These were contained in a statement read by Mr Kwesi Anwuboh, Vice Chairman of Council One at a press conference at Takoradi on Thursday. Mr Anwuboh said the present management of the club headed by Mr Nanabanyin Eyison had taken undue advantage of deficiencies in the 25-year-old constitution of the club to entrench themselves in position. Even though the constitution gives a maximum of six years for a member to head the Hasaacas Management Committee, Eyison is said to have been in that position for the past 18 years.

Mr Anwuboh accused the current management of the Club of lacking competence and ideas in modern day soccer, which has resulted in the present unenviable position of the Club on the Premier League table. The Vice Chairman also accused the Management Committee of sabotaging efforts to ensure the smooth running of the Club.

He noted that since due process was undertaking and followed towards appointment of the Patrons of the Club, it was strange for the Management Committee to come out with a statement denying its recognition of the Patrons, whom he said had held several meetings with the management since their appointment over a year ago.

Mr Anwuboh alleged that there was a subtle move by the current management of the team to sell the Club's assets including the training pitch and club house and said this move would be resisted, adding that there were other means by which supporters and sympathizers would be encouraged to raise enough funds for the Club.

He appealed to supporters of the club not to allow selfish interests within the present management to divide their ranks since that would not augur well for the successful development of the Club. Mr Anwuboh called on genuine supporters of Hasaacas to rally behind the Patrons and the concerned supporters' groups to adopt measures that would save the club from relegation from the Premier soccer league. 11 April 09
