Corrupt players ruin their own career

THE life patron of Swedru All Blacks FC, Obaapanyin Abena Gyimah, has warned footballers who behave like prostitutes by taking bribes from opposing teams to the detriment of their own clubs to desist from such behaviour.

The life patron, who doubles as the Mankrado of Agona Swedru under the stool name of Nana Efua Eyipuwa, said it is the tendency of some players to behave like prostitutes, taking bribes from opposing teams to undermine the progress of their clubs from which they receive their daily bread.

Obaapanyin Abena Gyimah was introducing Mr Adjei Boateng, a staunch supporter of Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC, as the new chairman of All Blacks FC at a grand ceremony at Swedru last week.

?Such players who behave like prostitutes only do so at the peril of their own career as in the end no club, foreign or local, of good standing would show any interest in signing them on?, she added.

Mr Adjei Boateng expressed delight to be associated with the club, saying his main aim is to ensure that All Blacks qualify from Division One into the Premier League next year. To buttress that assertion, he anounced that he has brought in a number of new players to beef up the tam.

Mr Boateng expressed the hope that with the new management, the club will be able to produce top players for the national soccer teams ? Black Stars, Satellites and Starlets.

Mr Boateng was accompanied by Coach J. E. Sarpong and Mr Isaac Badu, who were introduced as the new coach and vice-chairman respectively for the club. They cautioned against hooliganism, beating of referees and insulting of players by fans.

?Such acts only tend to negate the success of a club as in most cases it is the club whose fans misbehaved that loses points and funds through fines,? they added.
