Cornerstones Whipped

Accra, Dec 1, GNA - Gomoa Fetteh based Feyenoord on Monday whipped Kumasi Cornerstones 5-1 in their Zone 2 of the Sub-Middle League game played at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Feyenoord, who were superior technically and paraded a much younger players harassed their opponents throughout the game and opened the scores in the tenth minutes through arrow striker, Nafiu Abdul Iddrissu.

The silky striker made no mistake in placing a carpet shot beyond the reach of goalkeeper Afrifa Eric when Isaac Borketey Bortey's cross met him unmarked in the vital area.

Corners came in strongly after the gaol but it was Iddrissu who made it two in the 29th minutes when he powered his way through the formers defence in a set up from the middle that caught the defenders pants down.

The Corners defence finding Iddrissu's flair unbearable subjected him to series of rough play and Prince Anokye as a result received the first booking on the afternoon.

Corners pulled one back with ten minutes to end the half through Peter Sakordie when he out jumped all to head home a corner kick by Jerry Akamerko.

Just at the time all thought the Gerden City lads were close to equalising, the Sam Arday boys raced into their opponents box with speedster Moses Doglo tearing away from his marker and lashed a deep cross into the box which Dauladi Sherif on the stroke of the first half.

Corners looked a resurrected side from recess and but for poor finishing upfront they could have equalised as their strikers exhibited no precision in the vital area.

Both teams introduced fresh limbs into the game and it was the Fetteh boys who benefited most as they pilled more pressure on their opponents scoring twice with spot kicks in the last quarter of the game.

Fosu Godfred and Doglo coverted both kicks to seal victory for their side.
