Cofie apologises after own goal

Ghana international Isaac Cofie has apologised to Genoa fans and team-mates for scoring an own goal against Udinese on Tuesday and is hoping the whole team improves.

The midfielder who was signed by Genoa this summer has featured in most of their games this season putting up fantastic peformances.

"I am sorry for the own goal," Cofie told the club's official website. "There are too many errors, we need to improve in our subsequent games."

Cofie added: "Udinese are a good team, it was not an easy race, we were too imprecise in steps, some mistakes were made.

"The coach in the locker room more than once explained that we had to be more careful in getting the ball rolling."

Cofie was an unused substitute on Saturday as Genoa were beaten by two goals to nothing by Napoli at Stadio Communale Ferraris.
