Coconut Grove Sharks beat Eleven Wise

Cape Coast, May 27, GNA - Elmina Coconut Grove Sharks caused a big surprise when they subdued Sekondi Eleven Wise 2-1 in their Division One league match played at the Robert Mensah Stadium on Saturday.

The Sharks who lost to Samartex 2-1, Metro Stars 1-0 and Feyenoord 4-2 in the early stages of the league found their rhythm after these defeats chalking success in their subsequent matches.

They drew 1-1 with Ebusua Dwarfs, Spanked Cape Coast Venomous Vipers 5-1, drew 3-3 with Windy Professionals and added Sekondi Eleven Wise to round off the first round of the league with eight points. After Referee Michael Adjei from Suhum signaled the two sides into action, it was the Sharks who started the game strongly and scored the opener in the 10th minute through midfielder Alhassan Yartey and hanged on it until half time.

On resumption, Eleven Wise came back strongly to level up the scores in the 50th minute through inside left Jeff Aryeh. Sharks center half, Isaac Quainoo, who wasted a penalty kick awarded his side in the 60th minute atoned for his mistake when he scored the match winner in the 72nd minute.

Results of other matches were, Venomous Vipers drew 1-1 with Feyenoord, Windy Professionals lost 0-1 to Metro Stars with Ebusua Dwarfs mesmerized 0-2 by Samartex. 27 May 08
