Coca Cola U-17 soccer competition hits Western Region

Accra, March 9, GNA - The ongoing search for soccer talents in the Under-17 sector by beverage giants Coca Cola Ghana Limited continues at the Sekondi Gyandu Park, in the Western Region.

Eight juvenile teams will battle for the single slot for the Region. The eight teams include; Zamalek, Arsenal, Apramdu United, Young Kotoko, Soccer Babies, Barcelona, Ankara and Young Medeama. The three day tournament will commence on Thursday, March 11 and end on Saturday, March 13.

Prior to the start of the competition, veteran coaches Emmanuel Kwesi Afranie, Francis Oti Akenten and Tony Baffoe will conduct coaching clinics and screen players for the competition.

At stake are cash awards, trophies, set of jerseys, plaques, certificates and Coca-Cola products for teams, players and officials who will excel in the competition.

The competition started late last year with the sole motive to unearth soccer talents at the grass roots level to feed the various national teams. Mr Anthony Chenebuah, Operations and Marketing Manager of Coca-Cola said in an interview with GNA Sports said that the stage is set for the forthcoming championship for followers of the sports, especially among the youth of the Western Region. 09 March 10
