Coca Cola Pulls Out of Hearts Sponorship Deal

Defending league champions, Accra Hearts of Oak has been dealt a blow in their bid to secure sponsorship from Coca Cola Company Limited. The club was hopeful of securing the deal after winning the local league, which was one of the conditions for the sponsorship. But Coca Cola pulled out at the last minute.

Hearts would have received $80,000 annually under the agreement.

Talks between the management of Hearts and Coca Cola began during the last season, but officials of Hearts were admonished not to publicize the move. The latest move by Coca-Cola has compelled Hearts to look elsewhere for corporate sponsors.

The sponsorship committee had earlier on informed the club’s board of their resolve to raise over 2 billion cedis for the club this season, with Coca-Cola Bottling Company being their biggest sponsor.
