Coach Paha looking ahead with hope

From: Veronica Commey, GNA Special correspondent in Nigeria

Oghara, Nigeria Oct 29, GNA - Satisfied Black Queens coach Isaac Paha said on Sunday that he was looking ahead to his next game in the African Women Championship (AWC) against Cameroon with hope.

The coach supervised a lone goal victory over Mali in their opener on Sunday and remains convinced his side would emerge victorious on Wednesday when they meet the physical Cameroonians. The coach told GNA Sports on Sunday that his focus was to use the next three days to seal any loopholes to ensure the Queens record their second win.

Another win will send Ghana to the semi finals. Ghana's group is made up of Mali, Cameroun and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Coach Paha said, "There are a few corrections here and there and we will go back to the drawing board to ensure we come out a lot better in the next game".

He said though the team did not totally play to his instructions, he cannot ask for more."

"The team did not play 100 per cent to my instructions but I cannot ask for more since we got the three points".

The coach claimed he did not miss the services of former players like ace goalkeeper Maimunatu Sulemana and experienced defender Elizabeth Baidoo though many felt the goalie's absence was felt. The Queens lead the group with three points after DR Congo and Camaroun drew one all in their game.

The Queens are making a fifth attempt at gold after four consecutive appearance in the AWC.

Host Super Falcons of Nigeria have won all four competitions.

A win against Cameroun means qualification to the semi finals.
