Coach 'Milo' embarks on European tour

Accra, Sept 23, GNA - Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac will embark on a tour of Europe next week to monitor Ghanaian players currently plying their trade in major leagues. The tour, which is the Serb's first since assuming the technical reigns of the senior national team last August, will take him to the Netherlands, France and Germany.

Milovan told GNA Sports that the tour will aid him to have a fair idea of players' performance and status in those leagues. "I always monitor the players on TV and the internet, but it is very important that I watch them live.

"I will also observe players who have been out of the team lately for one reason or the other."

The Serb added that having a visual glimpse of the players in action will afford him gain more knowledge with regards to their fitness and to be in a better position to adopt the neeeded tactics ahead of the crucial 2010 World Cup/African Cup of Nation qualifier against Lesotho next month.

"John Mensah has played two matches for Lyon at the left back and it is better to watch him play in that position," he recalled. Milovan said the trip which will last a maximum of 10 days has been held back due to problems with resident permits, but was optimistic of making the trip this time round.

The Serb also hinted that he will embark on tours to other parts of Europe and possibly Asia with the same intent after the end of the first round qualifiers of the 2010 World Cup/African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The coach is expected back in time to prepare the team for the crucial Group F must-win encounter against the Southern Africans, who are yet to pick a point in the campaign.
