Accra, Jan. 6, GNA - Justice George Lamptey, chairman of the Board of Directors of Accra Great Olympics said on Tuesday that rumours making the rounds that the technical team and the welfare committee of Great Olympics have been dissolved are incorrect and do not reflect the true situation in the Olympics camp.

In an exclusive interview with the GNA Sports, the retired Supreme Court judge said, "Aziz has not been sacked and nobody has been sacked and no appointments have been made."

Some media reports said that Abdul Aziz, the stand in coach at Olympics after the exit of Emmanuel Kwesi Afranie had been sacked and while the Welfare Committee had been wiped under the carpet.

Explaining the scenario, Justice Lamptey said it became necessary to put some people in charge of the day to day running of the club after Mr. Richard Oblitei Solomon and his Interim Management Committee had relinquished office at the end of the season.

He said he asked two members of the Board who have a close relationship with the players to act in administrative capacity to oversee the welfare of the players so that they would not desert before a new management committee is instituted.

The renowned judge said Seth Ankrah and David Fugar satisfied the criteria and he asked them to discharge such functions without appointing them into any office, adding that the arrangement was just tentative and that new appointments would be made soon.

On the purported appointment of Captain Vincent Amenyedor as secretary to the Board culminating in the retired army officer signing a letter in the capacity, Justice Lamptey said it was also a temporary arrangement as those who occupied the position have declined to function.

"Mr Nkansah of the Customs, Excise and Preventive Service was the substantive secretary but when he was promoted, he said he could no longer perform his duties at the club and Major Sam has not been available for a long time and he has not given any official notice about his absence."

He said the Board has succeeded in bringing the Standfast Bloc back into the Olympics family and one of them, Capt Amenyedor was asked to act in place of Major Sam.

Justice Lamptey assured supporters of the club that "substantive appointments will soon be made to end the era of Interim Management Committees" and implored all members of the Olympics family to join hands in lifting the club to a new pedestal of unity and triumph.
