Coach Addo envisages CHAN team shake-up

Accra, March 28, GNA - Head coach of the local-based Black Stars, Herbert Addo has targeted an overhaul of his team ahead of the Sudan 2011 Championship.

The Black Stars sealed their place among the finalists at the second edition of the championship designed for footballers playing in their domestic leagues courtesy a lone goal victory over their Burkinabe counterparts at the Ohene Djan sports stadium, Accra.

Coach Addo who guided the Stars to their second successive appearance of the competition, told GNA Sports in a post-match interview that he would alter his squad ahead of the tournament billed for Sudan next January.

He said there are "better" players around and he will also monitor others whilst the Glo Premier League is ongoing.

"I'm certain that most of these players will not be in the final squad. I have some players on radar and will bring them on board in line with building a formidable team."

Coach Addo however observed that some members of the current team have sealed their places for the tournament, come next year in Sudan.

"Some of the players have confirmed their places with their output whilst others are bound for Europe in search of greener pastures."

Coach Addo also expressed satisfaction with the performance of his team despite struggling in the initial stages of the game.

"I'm happy with the result. We were looking for a win, we got it and we have qualified. But there is a lot of work to be done on the team to make it a winsome side capable of taking on any team."

Ghana lost 0-2 to DR Congo in the maiden CHAN held in Cote d'Ivoire in March 2009.
